When Dar-Ol-Fonon was founded in 1894, dentistry was taught as a sub-branch of medicine at the same school. University of Tehran was established in 1934, dentistry separated as an independent school. TUMS School of Dentistry is the foremost dental center in Iran with an international reputation of scholarly activities in both clinical and biological sciences. According to the national ranking, TUMS School of Dentistry is the first School out of 45 dental schools of the country. Our School, as a professional educational institution offers a full range of academic courses, including comprehensive undergraduate programs and postgraduate programs in collaboration with highly experienced faculty members through proper facilities and the most advanced methods.

TUMS is the oldest and most well-known medical center in Iran, nationally as well as internationally. TUMS, as one of the country’s top research universities, accepts applications from the most qualified students. It also has the largest schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, rehabilitation, allied medical sciences, public health, advanced technologies in medicine, nutritional sciences and dietetics, and nursing and midwifery in Iran as well as a virtual school

Since the language of doctor-patient interaction is Persian, our undergraduate programs are offered in Persian. As such, all those admitted to our undergraduate programs need to come to Iran at least one semester prior to the start of their program for participation in Persian language courses. Please note that all postgraduate programs are offered in English.
 
Postgraduate Programs
There are various short and long term postgraduate courses for national and international students. The most popular course is the Specialty in which the accepted applicants will be the resident of the corresponding department for 3-4 years becoming eligible for the National Board exam. In addition to the long term courses, there are some short term mastership courses in Microscopic Endodontics and Implantology. There are also various fellowships (post Doc), such as Cosmetic Dentistry, Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Oncology (surg), and Trauma that are only offered to specialists (See the following list for details).

All interested applicants are welcome to apply to TUMS by completing and submitting TUMS online application form in which they need to specify their school, level, and major of interest.

To join the 2017 academic session which starts in around mid-February 2017, it is highly recommended that you complete your applications in October 2016. Applications received on November 1, 2016 at after, will most probably be considered for the September 2017 academic session.
