Global Network for Health & Peace (GNPH)
Global Network for Health & Peace (GNHP)
Building a Healthier World Through Peace. Advancing Peace Through Health.
We operate on a fundamental truth: Peace and Health are inseparable; one cannot thrive without the other. In a world marked by conflict and inequality, we are building a global alliance dedicated to breaking this cycle.
The Network is proudly hosted by Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), a pioneer institution committed to global health equity. The Permanent Secretariat is housed within the TUMS Office of International Relations, with its Center of Excellence for Global Health providing the scientific and operational leadership that drives our initiative forward.
The Challenge We Address
- Conflict destroys health: It shatters infrastructure, disrupts supply chains, and forces healthcare workers to flee.
- Poor health undermines peace: Disease, malnutrition, and collapsed health systems fuel poverty, displacement, and social unrest.
- The most vulnerable suffer most: We focus on protecting health and human dignity in the world's most fragile and conflict-affected settings, with special focus on the most vulnerable, i.e., women, children, elderly, people with disability, migrants/refugees/displaced people.
Our Pathway to Impact
We translate conviction into action through four key pillars:
- 1. Knowledge & Evidence
- Supporting cutting-edge research on health system resilience in conflict zones.
- Documenting and disseminating best practices and lessons learned.
- Creating a central hub for data and policy analysis.
- 2. Partnership & Collaboration
- Uniting a diverse consortium of universities, international agencies, NGOs, and global actors.
- Building trusted networks for coordinated action.
- 3. Policy & Advocacy
- Translating research into clear, evidence-based policy recommendations.
- Engaging with national governments and international institutions (e.g., WHO, UN) to place health at the center of peace and security agendas.
- Advocating for the protection of healthcare workers and infrastructure in conflict.
- 4. Capacity & Empowerment
- Training the next generation of leaders in health-in-emergencies and peacebuilding.
- Strengthening international institutions to prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises.
Join Us in Forging the Future
GNHP is more than a network—it is a global movement.
We invite researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals, NGOs, and all institutions who share our conviction to become part of this vital endeavor.
Together, we can:
- Protect health workers and services in conflict zones.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex health challenges.
- Ensure that health is recognized as a fundamental pillar of lasting peace.
Let's build a future where health and peace, as two fundamental human rights, are realities for all.
