History of Medical Sciences

The field of medical sciences in Iran has a long and significantly rich history, giving the world renowned scholars such as Rhazes and Avicenna. As one of the cradles of ancient civilization, Iran and Iranian scholars have made numerous valuable contribution to the collective human knowledge, a main part of which is the landscape of medical sciences. Quite appropriately, TUMS School of Persian Medicine strives to teach and explore this vast and priceless history through the academic study of this subject.

With shining examples such as Rhazes (AD 865-925 A.D.) and Avicenna (981-1037 A.D.) in the history of Iranian medical sciences, it comes as no surprise that TUMS, as one of the many benefactors of such a legacy, consistently tries to keep alive this vast and rich history and study its various aspects.

At this university, TUMS School of Persian Medicine, as the center of higher education studies on Persian, alternative, and complementary medical services, has taken up the responsibility of educating and training talented students at B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. levels, especially regarding historical studies of medicine and Persian medicine.
