Application Procedure:
As the chart shows, after filling out the online application form, if the sent documents are complete, Admission Committee may conditionally accept its residents and give them Provisional/Conditional Acceptance. The condition may include written exam and/or interview (online, in person) based on the department’s decision, but all accepted applicants are to be evaluated in a 3- to 6- month practical evaluation program (observership program). TUMS may also accept some qualified applicants without any kind of exam, based on their high scores obtained in their previous (M.D./M.B.B.S.) degrees, and invite them to start their practical evaluation program at the specified time.
Regardless of the sort of exam, if the applicant is accepted in that exam, he/she is required to come to Iran and attend a 3- to 6-month observership program at the hospital (relevant ward).
During the program, his/her performance will be evaluated by professors of the department and also he/she is required to improve his/her Persian language; he/she is required to participate in Persian language classes to learn Persian before and during the studies. These classes are free-of-charge, and TUMS will arrange the Persian learning program.
After this 3- to 6-month observership program, if the resident passes this practical evaluation successfully, he/she will be given an unconditional acceptance, and the resident can officially start his/her studies in Specialty at TUMS as a resident. If not, he/she should leave the program but he/she will be given an “Observership Certificate” for the period he/she has spent in the ward.
Continuing the program is subject to passing each year’s Progress Exams consisting of written & verbal ones.
