Advanced Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Research Center
| About the Center |
The Advanced Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Research Center (ADIR) at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) was established in 2009 as Iran's first dedicated radiology research center. Since then, it has evolved into a leading national hub for innovation in diagnostic imaging and image-guided interventions. Located within the Medical Imaging Center, ADIR fosters multidisciplinary collaboration with radiology departments, teaching hospitals, and research institutions across Iran and around the world.
The center's mission is to advance the field of radiology through innovative basic, translational, and clinical research while translating scientific discoveries into improved patient care. Its major research areas include advanced medical imaging, interventional radiology, artificial intelligence, imaging biomarkers, precision medicine, neuroimaging, and minimally invasive image-guided therapies. ADIR is also committed to developing a comprehensive knowledge base in radiology, training the next generation of researchers and healthcare professionals, and strengthening national and international scientific collaborations.
Over the years, ADIR has successfully led and participated in numerous collaborative research projects, playing a pivotal role in advancing radiology research in Iran. The center has also contributed significantly to the establishment and international indexing of the Iranian Journal of Radiology. Supported by state-of-the-art imaging facilities, an extensive clinical network, and interdisciplinary expertise, ADIR strives to become an internationally recognized center of excellence, delivering high-impact research, innovative technologies, and evidence-based solutions that improve patient care and healthcare outcomes.

| Collaboration Opportunities |
The Advanced Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Research Center (ADIR) welcomes collaborations with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, research centers, and industry partners worldwide. The center actively supports joint research projects, multicenter clinical studies, researcher exchange programs, data sharing initiatives, and collaborative innovation in advanced medical imaging, artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and image-guided therapies.
ADIR has established a strong track record of international collaboration. A notable example is its joint research project with the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego) Medical Center, which led to the first-in-human application of Neucrylate AN for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
The center also works closely with the University's Office of Industry Relations to promote technology transfer, facilitate industry-sponsored research, support the commercialization of innovative technologies, and attract external funding for both the research center and the university. Through these strategic partnerships, ADIR advances translational research, accelerates the adoption of innovative healthcare technologies, and contributes to improving patient care and clinical outcomes.
