About the Center

 

The Maternal, Fetal, and Neonatal Research Center began operating in August 2009 with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education as one of the research centers of Tehran University of Medical Sciences with the aim of expanding research and improving the health of mothers and newborns. Currently, this center, with its committed and specialized staff who are experts at the national and international levels, is trying to take a step towards modern knowledge in maternal, fetal, and neonatal medicine and to operate as a reputable scientific and research hub in the region.
Our main mission is to carry out and expand research-based activities in the field of maternal, fetal, and neonatal medicine at the national and global levels. The members and researchers of this center, with various specializations, strive to advance research and scientific advancement through scientific knowledge and collective participation.

 

Research Focus Area

 

  • Study of addiction and its consequences on the mother and the newborn
  • Study of the development process of newborns
  • Study of the principles of medical ethics in neonatology and perinatology
  • Identification of the effects of various types of pollution (environmental, food, etc.) on the mother, newborn and infant
  • Research in the field of herbal medicine, complementary therapy and diet on the health of the mother and newborn
  • Identification of the complications of HIV on pregnancy
  •  Investigation of new diagnostic methods in neonatal medicine and perinatology
  • Identification of drug use patterns in newborns and mothers
  • Identification of some common neonatal problems and biological factors
  • Evaluation of the positive effects of the environment in the treatment of neonatal disorders
  • Research in the field of screening and prevention of neonatal disorders
