Program Description:
It is a subset of general surgery specialty of which the graduates will be trained in diagnosis and surgical management of congenital and acquired related diseases like pulmonary, pleural, chest wall, tracheal and diaphragmatic ones.
the aim of training competent, knowledgeable, liable subspecialists for service provision and continuous improvement in diagnosis, therapy, prevention, education, and research and science production in the field of Thorax Surgery.
Objectives:
At the end of the program learners will be competent in the following skills:
Lung Biopsy, Resection and Repair
Chest wall Surgery
Resection ,repair and reconstruction Surgery in Tracheal and Broncheal Cancers and Stenosis
Resection ,repair and reconstruction Surgery Esophageal and Cardiac Diseases
Resection ,repair and reconstruction Surgery of Diaphragm
Mediastinal Surgery
Pericardial Surgery
Using Bendable or Rigid Endoscopy in Esophageal or tracheabronchial related Problems.
Cervical, Axillary or mediastinal Lymph Node Biopsy
Thoracic Sympathetic Nerve Surgery
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Surgery
Air ways Surgery
Emphysema Surgeries
Cervical or Thoracic Vertebrea Surgeries
Surgery of Thoracic Trauma Patients
Lung Transplants
CVP,Swan Ganz ,Arterial Catheter Insertion
Total Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition
Management Of Complicated Cases

Course Duration is 2 years
Admission Requirements
General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.
Specific Requiremetns: Degree in General Physicians (M.D) or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) by one of the Iranian or foreign universities.
Having and approved specialty in General Surgery
The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved general physician program and should be proficient in English or Persian.
Admission Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.
