Program Description:
Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine is a comprehensive science field including care for preconception up to post neonatal period. It is a subset of pediatric medicine, focused on neonatal health provision, maintenance and improvement of service provision in prevention, management, research and educational fields.
Objectives:
At the end of the program learners will be competent in the following skills:
- Neonatal Resuscitation, Stabilizing and Transfer
- CVP measurement
- Invasive Blood Pressure Measurement
- Intra tracheal Intubation (Nasal ,Oral )
- LMA
- Intra Tracheal Suctioning
- Oxygen Therapy Monitoring
- Non-invasive Mechanical Ventilation (NIMV، NSIMV ،NIPPV،CPAP)
- Routine Mechanical Ventilation (CMV)
- High Frequency Mechanical Ventilation
- Chest tube insertion
- Pneumothorax needle aspiration
- Diagnostic Trans illumination
- Endo-tracheal Surfactant Injection
- Pleural Tap
- Blood Sampling (Capillary, Venous, Arterial )
- Catheter Insertion(Umbilical Artery, Peripheral )
- Breastfeeding technics and milk preservation
- Total Parenteral Nutrition
- Ascites aspiration
- Preterm neonate blood transfusion
- Glucometry
- Brain Sonography
- Electrocardiography
- Knowing how to use warmer, Incubator, Infusion pump, phototherapy, and monitors

Admission Requirements
General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.
Specific Requiremetns: Degree in General Physicians (M.D) or Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) by one of the Iranian or foreign universities.
Degree and having a specialty in pediatrics.
The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved general physician program and should be proficient in English or Persian.
Admission Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.
