Program Description:
In recent years, regarding increasing prevalence of diabetes and hypertension and the presence of congenital anomalies in Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), renal replacement therapies such as peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis and kidney transplant is required more than before.
According to National 20-year out-look document and Urologic surgery strategic planning, a method for national development is promotion of specialty, subspecialty and fellowship courses. Kidney transplant fellowship is one of the most needed training programs in IRI, and some universities of medical sciences have been training fellows for several years. In order to develop a single curriculum for this course, a Fellowship Curriculum Development Committee was established to develop kidney transplant fellowship in the specialized training council secretariat in 2009. Using credible international universities and experts' opinions, the committee formulated this curriculum and issued it to medical universities. The committee welcomes the experts' valuable comments for future revisions.
