Program Description:
In today's world, prevalence, incidence, and load of different types of cancer, including genitourinary cancers, are increasing so that in depth exploring the related topics appears necessary both theoretically and practically. The complexity of the diagnosis, and specialized service provision for patients suffering from these diseases has led to the compilation of different protocols. Even in the world's prestigious universities, specific wards and courses have been established, and specialized services have been offered to the public. In this regard, specific wards were established in Iran in 1991 to offer services to cancer patients.
In order to train the required force in this field, the uro-oncology fellowship was launched in Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1995. In 2010 decisions were made to convert local programs into a national program. To this end, a committee was formed consisting of a number of experienced people in this field, and compiled the current program, which will be ready for implementation at the approved universities after legal procedures.
