Program Description:
Female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery course was begun as a subset of gynecology in the 19th century in the world. This course has been accepted as a subspecialty in the world .
Many regions such as America, Canada, Europe and Australia run fellowship courses. Many women in Iran suffer from pelvic floor disorders, which seriously affect their quality of life.
In order to develop this course, a committee prepared the draft curriculum and finalized it with the help of experts from the following specialties: obstetrics and gynecology, urology, colorectal surgery, general surgery, plastic surgery, reconstructive and burn, gastroenterology, psychiatry, radiology and endocrinology and metabolism. After being finalized, it was circulated to universities for execution and assessment, so training licenses could be issued for this fellowship to other universities. The committee welcomes the viewpoints of experts for revisions of the curriculum.
Definition
The fellowship of pelvic floor disorders in females is a clinical Program and the graduates focus on theoretical knowledge and practical skills in prevention, diagnosis, surgical and non-surgical treatments associated with pelvic floor disorders in females
Objectives:
To train knowledgeable, efficient and effective specialists for related pelvic floor disorders in females service provision.

Urinary disorders:
- Urinary incontinence:
TOT-TVT and other minimally invasive surgeries Burch, sling and other major surgeries
Outpatient treatment (non-surgical and medical)
- Different vesicovaginal fistulas, urethral diverticulum Genital system disorders:
- Abdominal surgery:
Closure or repair of enterocele, sacrocolpopexy, and paravagina
- Vaginal surgery: Hysterectomy with and without colporrhaphy, paravaginal repair, Manchester, enterocele repair, Lefort, perineorrhaphy with perineal body repair, suspension of cuff using sacrospinous, iliococcygeus and ….. methods
- Genital anomaliesRepair : Rockytansky syndrome, the transverse and longitudinal vaginal septum
Bowel disorders:
- Perineal laceration repair grade 3 and 4 and primary or delayed anal sphincter
- Rectovaginal fistulas Repair
- Outpatient treatment (non-surgery and medical)
Admission Requirements
General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.
Specific Requiremetns: Holding an M.D. or M.B.B.S. degree. Having and approved Specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology received in Iran or abroad
The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved related Degree program and should be proficient in English or Persian.
Admission Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.
