Program Description:
Psychosomatic medicine is a subset of psychiatry, which addresses physical and psychiatric problems of patients at the same time. Psychosomatic medicine specialist not only gives advice to other physicians, but also is a member of the management team of internal and surgical patients
Psychosomatic medicine has a major role in many departments such as those that deal with organ transplant, cancer and chronic diseases. This is effective and useful for emergency and ICU Units. Also it has a pivotal role in the hospital ethics committee. One of the most sensitive things that psychosomatic medicine provide is assessment of stresses imposed on hospital staffs due to taking care of patients, especially in chronic and end stage patients. Consultation- liaison psychiatrist has an educational role for students, nurses, general practitioners and specialists in other departments, and also helps to provide a better care for patients, and maintain good physician -patient relationship.
Definition
This fellowship is a complementary course of specialized field of psychiatry and the graduates play their roles in providing advices, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of psychosomatic diseases and related fields.
Objectives:
- To train skilled and Liable physicians in providing comprehensive preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic approaches with training, and research competencies in the field of psychosomatic medicine.
Admission Requirements
General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.
Specific Requiremetns: Holding an M.D. or M.B.B.S. degree. Having and approved Specialty in Psychiatry, received in Iran or abroad
The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved related Degree program and should be proficient in English or Persian.
Admission Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.
