Program Description:
The Breast Disease Research Center offers a three-month training program on breast procedures for one participating surgeon each time. The course will be offered four times throughout the year in centers of excellence in breast cancer surgery affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Expert oncologic surgeons and breast surgeons will provide the trainees with their experience in this currently crucial area of breast cancer management. The program offers a unique training opportunity to acquire both up- to-date information and skills on all techniques of surgery for breast cancer. The fellows will have the opportunity to observe, take part in, and perform many types of operations including lumpectomies, mastectomies, breast conserving surgeries, sentinel node biopsies, axillary dissections, oncoplastic breast surgeries, and breast reconstructions.
Objectives:
The aim of the program is to guide certified general surgeons and gynecologists who practice breast surgery in their countries in the techniques of breast cancer surgery by offering dedicated training experience in the operating room.
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Decide about the best management for any type or presentation of breast cancer
- Get familiar with breast imaging indications and implications
- Get aware of indications for neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatments
- Acquire the capability of performing all required surgical techniques for breast cancer management
Admission Requirements (Eligibility Criteria) :
Eligibility :Participants must be
- Board-certified Gynecologic or General Surgeons
- Authorized to treat breast cancer in their countries
- With primary surgical capabilities to handle common surgeries alone
- With a basic knowledge about breast cancer and breast surgery
Admission Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, for this program , no deadline has been defined for online registration.
Tuition Fee :
1500 US Dollars
Duration: Three months
Method of Instruction:
- Watching excellent educational films of relevant surgical techniques
- Observation of breast surgeries performed by professors and previous fellows
- Aiding in surgeries performed by professors and previous fellows
- Performing surgeries, aided by professors and previous fellows
- One half of the program will be held in clinics and operating rooms of Cancer Institute, and the other half in the clinics and operating rooms of Arash Women's Hospital.
