Program Description:
This educational program deals with health issues and disease of the elderly, as well as education, research and designing health intervention methods along with students' scientific experiences.
A senior Ageing Health expert is able to assessing needs, prioritizing problems, planning and implementing geriatric health care.
Objectives:
1. Increasing basic and applied knowledge and skills in the field of health and comprehensive care for the elderly.
2. Increasing creative thinking and problem solving skills to help analyzing elderly problems including legal, moral, etc., and finding appropriate solutions and management to solve elderly problems.
3. Developing students' ability to acquire research knowledge, critically reviewing of published research, and ultimately creating the necessary capabilities to conduct research in the field of geriatrics and ageing health.
4. Establishing a research basis on ageing health to assist policy making.
5. Developing communication skills and practical work with the elderly.
6. Increasing awareness of social and governmental policies that affect the life of the elderly or the need to establish it.

Graduates will have educational, research and care roles related to the elderly.
Specific Competencies and Skills:
Professional duties of graduates will be in the fields of:
A - Education:
- Providing essential training to the elderly, family and community.
- Educational cooperation related to the elderlies.
- Teaching team communication between the elderly, family and community
B - Research:
- Scientific assessment of the health needs of covered elderlies.
- Development of research projects related to the elderlies.
- Cooperation and participation in research activities related to the elderlies.
C - Services:
- Providing health care services based on guidelines for the elderlies.
- Cooperation in managing the departments related to the elderlies.
Admission Requirements
General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.
Specific Requiremetns: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in one of the fields of Nursing, Midwifery, Health Education, Public Health, Rehabilitation Management, Health Services Management, Clinical Psychology, Nutritional Sciences, Social Work, Audiometry, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy.
The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved related Degree program and should be proficient in English or Persian.
Admission Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.

Courses and number of credits:
Compulsory core credits: 23 credits
Non-core: 5 credits
Thesis: 4 credits
Total: 32 credits
