Program Description:
Traditional Persian Medicine is a branch of complementary and alternative medicine in which general physicians will be familiarized with the principles and conventional methods of prevention, treatment, education, and applied and innovative research in traditional Persian medicine to use the most advanced and updated information of classic medicine in instances where the application of traditional medicine is to the benefit of the patient, the society, and the advancement of human knowledge, as well as utilizing this method for the sake of providing, returning and improving the health of patients and the society.
Objectives:
To train physicians for providing flexible, easy and low-cost medical services, with extended acceptance on the part of patients, in order to improve the health of individuals and the society, together with conducting relevant research.

At the end of the program learners will be competent in the following skills:
Diagnosis of diseases based on an integrative approach using principles of Traditional Persian Medicine and conventional medicine
Diagnosing familiar with the red flags and understands in which situations the patients should be referred to a hospital for emergency care.
Selecting the best treatment method for patients amongst Traditional Persian Medicine treatments, including manual therapies, pharmacotherapy, and life style modification.
Designing a clinical/ laboratory study to assess the safety and efficacy of treatment methods mentioned in Traditional Persian Medicine to provide enough evidence for clinical use of these treatments.

General Requirement: To apply for this program, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements, which can be found in the Graduate Admission Requirements.
Specific Requirements: Holding an M.D. degree or its equivalents in Iran or abroad
The eligible candidate should have successfully completed an approved related Degree program and should be proficient in English or Persian.
Admission Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31.
