Description:
The field of midwifery is one of the fields of medical sciences that its graduates at the bachelor level by providing reproductive health services and performing prenatal, during and postnatal care, caring for neonates, infants and children and providing education and counseling for topics of sexual and reproductive health to women, family and community within the assigned duties, promoting and performing normal and safe as well as physiological childbirth, diagnosing abnormalities in the mother, fetus or newborn, performing emergency measures during and after pregnancy and childbirth, and timely referral of abnormalities strives to ensure the health of the mother, fetus, neonate, infant and child.
Objective:
The Bachelor of Science in Midwifery education program aims at preparing the student to be competent midwives who will play a vital role in improving the quality of life of childbearing families. The teaching and learning process facilitate student's skill development, decision making capacity and application of competencies based on service and profession led education.
On successful completion of this program, the student will have acquired the knowledge, attitude, skills and practices which will enable them to:
- Collect information to critically analyze social determinants and epidemiological patterns for improving maternal and newborn health outcomes.
- Utilize appropriate counseling and communication skills to interact effectively with women, children and their families.
- Integrate the concepts of midwifery process in planning and providing care for women during pregnancy, intrapartum, postpartum and postnatal for newborns care.
- Uphold midwifery care and its relevance in the care and management for childbearing women and their families.
- Apply reflective models to drawn lessons from personal experience about own clinical practice in emergency obstetric and neonatal care for mothers and babies.
- Helping to promote health indicators related to women's reproductive health and the health of infants, children and families.
- Helping reduce health problems related to mother, fetus, infant and child and reduce their mortality and morbidities
- Helping to promote natural, physiological and safe childbirth in the country
- Helping to have a healthy generation and healthy families

Application Deadline
Tehran University of Medical Sciences has a rolling application system and reviews student applications all year round.
However, the deadline for the September intake is June 31, and the deadline for the February intake is October 31.
